MISSION STATEMENT
Irish Dancing is a long standing traditional art form as well as a competitive sport. At the Bremer school of Irish dance we encourage both of these endeavors. We also encourage sportsmanship, courtesy and respect. This respect must be shown to members of our dancing school family as well as those outside our school community by both students and parents. We expect gentlemanly and ladylike behavior from both children and adults. It is also important that students realize the commitment involved. This is a full year program that does not stop when the nice weather arrives and soccer and softball start. Once an activity is started, it must be brought to fruition. This is especially important for teams in the fall and recital practice in the Spring. If you miss more than two Ceili practices, you will be replaced. It is very difficult to work together if we do not have all the members present.
Irish Dancing is also about friendships and fun. Life-long friendships have been formed through Irish Dancing, never loose sight of this fact.
We also work on dancer’s self esteem. Nothing helps more than dancing in front of others. It is a confidence building activity. Constructive criticism is very much a part of the curriculum.
Parents are asked to drop off and pick up your child. Our space is very limited and not conducive to a “waiting room”, the space should be used by the incoming class to “get ready”. No parent/sibling and/or friends will be allowed in the classrooms at any time. With the cooperation of students, parents and teachers, we can make this work. I wish you a successful 2011-2012 year.Sheila M. Bremer, A.D.C.R.G.
